I n mid-November, Los Angeles band leader and trombonist extraordinare Gary Tole brought LMP a "live" recording of his " Legends of Swing" big band.   This recording was from a Labor Day performance given for the Lake Arrowhead Performing Arts Council's called "Sing Sing Swing" .

Recorded directly from the event's sound system, Gary knew he had a great performance on tape but could hear all the normal problems that always occur when recording a "live" event.   Jim Ash , the engineer for the concert did a great job in recording the band while simultaneously running the live sound for the audience.   Of course Jim needed to use mics that were great for live sound reinforcement - but are not ideal for a studio level recording.  

After transferring the audio tracks into LMP's state of the art Pro Tools HD III Accel system LMP producer/engineer Jim Linahon was able to enhance the audio spectrum of the recording significantly while still keeping that "live performance" energy.

Working closely together, Jim and Gary were able to mix the live recording creating a wonderfully swinging CD that features several of the truly outstanding musicians in the orchestra.

You can hear from the audience reactions that this was a fantastic concert and that the musicians in " The Legends of Swing" are indeed keeping the great tradition of American swing alive and cookin'!   LMP was delighted to be able to contribute to this sensational orchestra and their new " Live at Lake Arrowhead" CD.
